The God Who Meets Us in the Wilderness

The story of Jacob is sprinkled throughout the book of Genesis....he is born in Genesis 25 and dies in Genesis 49 and is buried in Genesis 50. His fingerprints consume almost half of the book of Genesis. So I thought it would be a great challenge to explore the God of Jacob. What do we learn about God in His encounters with Jacob over the course of his life? What is it about God that Jacob learned....very slowly...but sustained him throughout life? And even more importantly, what did he learn that can sustain us throughout our lives? We serve the same God 3,800 years later – and if we call upon the God of Jacob, what would that mean for us? Because – we serve the same God!

From Series: "Same God"

We sing a song with these lyrics: I'm calling on the God of Jacob, Whose love endures through generations, I know that You will keep Your covenant. When we sing those lyrics, what do we recall? What should we recall? The story of Jacob is sprinkled throughout the book of Genesis....he is born in Genesis 25 and dies in Genesis 49 and is buried in Genesis 50.
