Adult Ministry
About Adult Ministry
Here at Peninsula we are all on a journey to become complete in Christ. That means we study the Bible and express our faith in a variety of ways. The following represents just a sample of what we have to offer for adults.
Currently at Peninsula Community Church, we have several adult Sunday school classes from which you can choose for a unique learning opportunity. Check out the list below and pick the one that fits you best.
Ephesians – You Are Rich!
Meets in conference room A
2 Peter: Don’t Believe the Liars
Meets in conference room B
Epistles of John
Meets in the choir room
The results of applying these verses in our lives will not only give us a richer, deeper love for our brothers and sisters in Christ, but be a witness to the world that Jesus is the only answer to the questions and struggles of life. As our Savior told the eleven in the upper room, “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35
Sunday Mornings
Women's Ministry
Our Women’s Ministries is all about connecting with God, each other, and our world. That means we encourage women to grow deeper in their relationship with God, to promote friendship and accountability with other women, and develop creative and effective outreaches into the community and the world.
Men's Ministry
The Men’s Leadership Team seeks to inspire and equip men to pursue Christ as their greatest treasure. We do this through various ministries to men.
Young Adult Ministry
We desire to help young adults connect with their peers and the entire church family as they continue growing in Christ. One way we do that is through our two young adult small groups that meet on alternating Tuesday nights. Interested in joining a small group? Contact Pastor Andrew.
The second way is through quarterly for large group events. These events include weekend lake trips, worship nights, dinners, and Christmas parties.
Small Groups
What do you do in a Small Group?
The groups focus on doing three things: Studying the Bible, Praying for one another, and Enjoying one another’s company.
Will I be asked to answer questions or pray out loud?
Relax! These are safe places for everyone to grow I their spiritual walk. No one will make you do what you are not comfortable doing. It’s just a bunch of flawed people walking together through life.
How often does a Small Group meet and how long does the group time last?
Most groups meet every other week with the average meeting lasting from 1½ to 2 hours.
What about child care?
Each group handles child care in a way that suits that group best. However, we offer the following suggestions: parents can switch off watching the children from week to week, parents share in hiring a baby-sitter or each family hires a baby-sitter for their own children.

Spiritual Growth
Journey Class
Beginning the Journey
Throughout time, people have sensed a longing in their heart to know God. Some call it a “longing” in their souls; others describe it as an “emptiness” that needs to be filled. If you feel this way, then you are describing a need to take a journey, a journey of the heart, a spiritual journey.
At Peninsula, we’ve created a community for those beginning or those wanting to go to the next level in their spiritual journey. The Journey class provides a place to ask questions, and people to care for and encourage you along the way.
Journey
If you are new to Christianity, or even if you have “tried” church and it feels foreign, awkward, or overwhelming, or as an adult you simply want to re-examine your childhood faith, come join us. If the claims of Christianity raise lots of questions, this class is a great place to find answers.
- What is the purpose of life?
- Who is God and where does “Jesus” fit in?
- Is the Bible really God’s Word?
- How can I relate to God in a personal way?
Taking Steps
If you are ready to embark on the journey of a lifetime, then take the first step… Come Sunday mornings, 9 – 10 am. The class is “open” — come any week. Journey meets up to three times a year based on interest (after the New Year, after Easter, and in the fall) for eight weeks each.
To sign up or receive more information, contact Pastor Bruce. You can also stop by the Welcome Center, located on the patio outside the PCC worship center, any Sunday morning to pick up a cup of coffee and directions to a class.
“Thirsty hearts are those whose longings have been wakened by the touch of God within them.” – A.W. Tozer
Class 101-401
Introduction to Peninsula and the Christian Life
God wants you to take your next step spiritually. That could mean getting baptized, committing to digging into the Bible each day, discovering how God wants to use you to help others, or just learning more about God’s plan for your life. Peninsula’s classes are all about those next steps.
CLASS 101
This basic introduction to our church family is designed to clearly explain who and what our church is. You’ll learn about our beliefs on salvation, our statements of purpose, and our church’s strategy and structure. You’ll also hear about the history of our church, how the five biblical purposes are necessary to fulfilling God’s calling for your life, and the plans for the future of Peninsula. At the end of class, you’ll be given the opportunity to decide whether to complete the membership process by filling out and signing the membership covenant.
CLASS 201
Do you want to become more like Jesus? Class 201 will help you develop the habits you need to jump-start your spiritual growth. It will give you an overview of the three basic spiritual habits every Christian needs in order to grow: daily time with God (prayer and Bible study), giving, and fellowship.
CLASS 301
Did you know that God created you with special gifts intended for his purposes? God didn’t design ministry for just a few – he made each one of us a minister. At Class 301, you’ll learn how God can use your Spiritual Gifts, your Heart, your Abilities, your Personality, and your Experiences (S.H.A.P.E.) to minister to the needs of others.
CLASS 401
In Class 401 you’ll discover your life mission and how you can be a part of God’s plan to reach out to the world. This class will help you:
- Develop a personal perspective of the Gospel message
- Develop your personal story of how God has worked in your life
- Build confidence in sharing your story
- Understand the P.E.A.C.E. Plan and how you can begin to be a part of it.
Discipleship
Do you have questions about life, the Bible, or God? Or do you just have the sense that you’re not where you want to be with your walk of faith? Our pastor of discipleship loves meeting with people whether you think your questions are silly or dumb or deep or perplexing. He is here to help you find clarity, insight, and understanding to your life with God. If you want personal mentoring, contact Pastor Bruce.
counseling
PCC does offer free Biblical counseling for personal, marriage and family issues. If you are feeling distressed or stuck or confused about life, please know that we care about you. Pastor Bruce is a certified Biblical counselor with years of experience. If you need help, contact Pastor Bruce to start the conversation.
Grief Share
It hurts to lose someone. Find help at Griefshare. Griefshare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Our Griefshare group leaders are well-trained, compassionate, and sensitive to what you are going through.
